Instructional Designer/Multimedia Designer
Meets and consults with faculty members regarding the best way to utilize technology to enhance their online classes. Evaluates faculty needs based on best practices and principles of effective educational technology pedagogy and utilization; student learning outcomes; and instructors level of skill and comfort using technology. Recommends tools and training for faculty based on that evaluation. Helps design instructional materials based on various learning theories, Instructional Design Theory, and Instructional Systems Design (ISD). Develops, delivers and revises training for faculty and students to cover the necessary concepts, principles, procedures, and processes for using educational technology. Conducts faculty support related to the use of educational technologies and multimedia design. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate the development of instructional materials that are functional, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles.
Collaborate and consult with faculty on the effective use of Web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software and systems to improve teaching both online and on-campus.
Evaluate the instructional effectiveness of programs, courses, and training products.
Plan, develop and teach faculty in areas of instructional design and the use of specific instructional technology tools.
Research and evaluate new and emerging technologies, instructional design theories, and approaches and policies for potential application to instructional opportunities.
Education:
Preferred graduate degree in instructional design or instructional/educational technology or in a related professional field, with requisite work experience. Special Skills/Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies
Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new procedures and software programs
An understanding of pedagogical issues related to online teaching and learning, particularly adult learning
Ability to work collaboratively within an academic community
Ability to interpret client needs
Commitment to customer service
Demonstrated written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills
Ability to solve problems in enterprising and proactive ways
Ability to manage and meet deadlines
Related Work Experience:
Preferred at least 3-5 years of experience in the field of instructional/educational technology including designing, developing, and managing higher education (and/or corporate) technology-based instruction projects and programs.
This position is funded year-to-year for the remaining 4 years of a 5-year federal grant.
